3 devices to help make car travel saferWhen I was younger, my family would all travel together.  Occasionally those trips would include my two grandmothers, ages 100 and 90, as well as my mother who has Multiple Sclerosis.  When dad would pull up and park the car, the unloading process was quite the spectacle!!

Doors and trunks would fly open and out came canes, walkers, wheelchairs and other strange contraptions.  All of the bracing, steadying and hoisting took several minutes.  It required the strength of Hercules and the patience of Job!

Thinking back, I do chuckle a bit at what all it took to accomplish a simple trip into town.  However, the risk associated with transferring in and out of a car is no laughing matter for seniors.  Instability and lack of strength make this a risky time for falls.

3 Devices to Make Car Travel Simple and Safe for Seniors

Car travel is important for seniors.  They often have doctor’s appointments to attend or simply need groceries and supplies.  Getting out of the house is important for their mental health as well.  Staying connected with friends and family is good for the spirit and helps combat isolation, which is always a concern.

To help make car travel easier, particularly the act of TRANSFERRING in and out, here are 3 great devices that can help!

Stander HandyBar is a 3-in-1 automotive safety tool that allows the user to easily sit or stand safely while entering or exiting their vehicle, offering support and protection from falls. It fits securely into either the passenger or driver side of the door of almost all types of vehicles and provides optimal leverage. The Stander HandyBar comes with two added safety features for automotive emergencies: a built-in window breaker and seat belt cutter.

The Drive Medical Padded Swivel Seat Cushion allows an individual to turn up to 360 degrees.  This  enables them to get on or off a seat, chair or car easily and comfortably. Incredibly lightweight at 3.25 pounds makes this product easy to transport and convenient to use.

Quality nylon strap construction and adjustable handle height allows you to meet varying heights of vehicle windows.  Contoured ergonomic buckle design provides easy attachment to your vehicle.  The heavy duty cushioned grip handle is made of formed rubber ProRoll.

Roll your window down enough to loop the end of the CarCaddie around the top of the frame of the window. Snap it in place and adjust the strap length so you can reach the handle while seated. Move the CarCaddie along the frame to find the most effective location for maximum assistance. Roll up window to secure CarCaddie.

A Small Device Can Make a Big Difference

Seniors need to travel!  Whether it’s a small trip to the store or a long journey to visit loved ones, they should never be denied the opportunity due to fears of safety.  Equipping yourself for such times can make the trip easier and create a safer experience for everyone.
